CHILDMINDING POLICY

I have a folder full of up-to-date policies and procedures that are a legal requirement set out by Ofsted relating to my childminding service.

But there are few occasions where I follow them exactly to the letter.

For instance, I cannot promise that I will never shout at your child.....because if they are ever running towards a road and I cannot catch them in time from running directly in front of a moving car I am going to shout at the top of my lungs at them instead to stop them from coming to any harm.

Since I first became a mother myself in 2007, I have come to understand that no two days are the same as each child is their own separate individual.

They don’t come with rule books and they rarely toe the line.

Instead, they do everything their way and on their terms.

So, as a childminder my policy is to aim to care for your child in the same way you do.....as a mother. There is nothing I have already done for my own children that I won’t do for your child. It is worth adding that I will always tell you the truth about every decision I ever make and implement.

During the phase-in sessions we can discuss everything in detail so that we are both completely confident that we are singing from the same hymn sheet

.....that way everyone is happy and content going forward.

My policies are also much more relaxed than nursery or school procedures.

My ethos is simply happy children, happy parents, happy me.

Because it is a triangle knock-on effect and it makes my job so much easier.

I operate an open doors policy at all times so that means you can turn up to collect your child un-announced at any time in the day and you will never find me doing anything I shouldn’t be doing professionally.

I never leave children crying un-attended in cots and I also never leave them un-supervised during feeding or activity / play times.

Above all I keep it real and don’t sweat the small stuff.

If there are any queries I will ask you, so please do the same for me.

That way your child’s transition into my home will be calm and easy.

.....and your return to work will be totally stress and worry free.

Then once those two sides of the triangle are complete that means that the third and most important one will just fall exactly into place.....and 

your child’s time spent with me will be fun, exciting, happy and positive.
